Dear Black Butterfly... You Are a Queen was written to remind young girls of all different backgrounds, that they are beautiful and unique, just the way God created them. Regardless of their skin tone or hair texture, they should ALWAYS feel confident enough to know that they are special, gorgeous, and uniquely created. The fictional setting takes place in New Orleans, LA where a young girl understood at an early age, that race was a factor when it came to catching Mardi Gras "parade throws"; only to be reminded by her creole mother, every day of her life, that she is a smart, beautiful queen with features that are gorgeous and uniquely hers. The book is written specifically, to remind young girls that they are BEAUTIFUL and to NEVER GIVE UP regardless of any obstacles that life may “throw” at them.
